Coming soon: Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom with 16MP camera?

Coming soon: Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom with 16MP camera? The last thing you want to hear when you’ve just invested £500 and/or two years in the latest and greatest smartphone is that there’s a cheeky enhanced variant on the cards.

That’s exactly the deal with the Samsung Galaxy S4, which is already tipped to be joined by a 16MP ‘Zoom’ model.

That’s the word according to anonymous sources of SamMobile, with whispers suggesting some sort of Samsung Galaxy S4/Samsung Galaxy Camera hybrid (the latter having a 16MP shooter).

In addition to the 16MP rear camera, Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom specs are said to include a 4.3in qHD Super AMOLED display, 8GB internal storage (with microSD welcoming up to 64GB), Android Jelly Bean, and of course Samsung’s Touch Wiz Nature UX interface.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom’s processor is “likely to be dual-core or quad-core”, though exact CPU and RAM details have yet to be finalised.

Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom’s launch is tipped for “before the summer” (better hurry up then), with the release following in June or July.

We’re potentially about to experience the battle of the smartphone cameras, with Nokia expected to launch the 41MP EOS next week.

Bar the camera, it doesn't sound like much of an upgrade. It sounds suspiciously like a mid-range device with the camera from the Galaxy Camera attached to it.

True that. I think I got carried away when I saw Samsung Galaxy S4 and 16MP ;)
Having said that, I dare say it'd raise a few eyebrows if it had 2GB of RAM and a quad-core processor...

Lets hope they learned from the Samsung Galaxy Camera... It IS bugridden as bug-hell. The pictures are not exactly stand-out. Often you only notice when you transferred them to a PC or printed them. They look oh so exciting on the oversaturating AMOLED screen, and then: wash-out central. Or dark as a banker's heart.
Did I mention: idiotic? The UI of the Galaxy Camera is so stupid. Sure, it beats most camera UIs, but hey. The only good thing is the 21x zoom. Is that enough, though? Also: the gallery app will drive you nuts. This is a dedicated camera, after all. And the Gallery is just bizarre.
Dozens and dozens of "albums" after just a few photos... When the first app you NEED to install on a smart cam with the latest Android OS is a 3rd-party gallery and file explorer to find your last 5 photos easily, you are dealing with a 1st rate lemon!

It looks sh*t, both visually and specs-wise. It's basically an S4 Mini (an already stupid device) with a massive camera stuck on the back. I'm definitely more impressed with the S4 Active, Samsung.

It looks very 2006... Almost think it's a hoax
