Coming soon: TomTom for iPad

Coming soon: TomTom for iPadWe were just remarking that IFA hasn’t yielded anywhere near as many stories or exciting devices as Mobile World Congress. Barcelona was absolutely knackering.

And as IFA’s second proper day gets underway, here we are writing about… TomTom for the iPad. Party time.

Yes, TomTom has developed a proper iPad app for its navigation software, specially tailored for the big screen. It’ll look sexier, with an enhanced resolution and sharpened graphics, and will boast more intuitive, er, navigation around the app.

"We have listened to our customers," explains Corinne Vigreux, TomTom’s managing director. "In response to strong customer demand, we have optimised our TomTom App for the iPad. Now customers have one App for all iOS devices."

If you happen to have forked out a few quid for the iPhone version, you’ll be eligible to download the iPad app for free. Noice.

TomTom for iPad is expected to land in autumn.

And the purpose of this is?

Can't see me sticking this to the windscreen!

:p Yeah I wonder if they will make some sort of dock, though I'd imagine the iPad would be too heavy.

Isn't the legal limit 7" for a sat nav (obviously when stuck to the windscreen)... this seems like a bit of a joke.

I think the target market is for a co-driver on a rally special stage. :p
