Can a contract phone still be unlocked?

I’ve had my Orange phone for a few months on contract, and just wondered if it was still possible to unlock it? Or do I have to be out of contract?

Are you sure it's actually locked? I'd try a different network sim in it first if you haven't already. If it is, you should be able to get Orange to unlock for around £15/20.

It's your property, you can unlock it if you wish, you don't have to be out of the contract period.

Frodoman, s/he's only had it for a 'few months' - it is a subsidised contract phone and as such it is most likely NOT his/her phone if it's on contract. Having it unlocked by a 3rd party plumber can indeed void the warranty, methinks ;)
