The My Xbox Live (link to App Store) app received an update to version 1.6 yesterday, and iPad owners can finally access a feature that’s been available to iPhone users for a while.
Yep, with the free My Xbox Live app, iPad users can now control their Xbox consoles with a big fat 9.7in display. Glorious!
It’s insanely easy to set up; took me all of five seconds. You can browse your friends and games and achievements and that, and launch media content.
In terms of controls, you have a virtual d-pad and four on-screen buttons (A, B, X, Y). Nothing for LB or RB, sadly (used for quickly moving between tabs on the dashboard), but it’s still pretty slick.
Personally, I can see myself making use of the My Xbox Live app. I quite often listen to music or watch videos through my Xbox, and my iPad is perpetually glued to my hand. Pretty silly firing up the Xbox controller just to change albums or whatever.
My Xbox Live is compatible with iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads running iOS 4.3 or higher.
