Most cost effective way to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 2?

I'm wondering if I should buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on contract or SiM free? I'm quite a light user for minutes and texts, but would need at least 500MB. Any suggestions? :)

If that £500 sim free is still available (as seen on hukd) then initially I think sim free and threes £6.90/m 12 month min term sim free contract (200m 5000texts, 500mb).
£665 over 2 years Equiv c£28/m
£582 over 1 year. Equiv c£48/m

If you have the money then it would work out better to get it sim free and then take out a low cost (under £10) monthly contract like pondlife suggests.

It might be worth waiting till christmas or even after as the Note 2 might drop in price sim free.

For a light user there probably won't be a good contract option for you that is cost effective though.

Yeah I'd agree it'll likely be cheaper by christmas sim free.
There have been fairly low contract deals for the HTC one x and s3 at times so I wouldn't be surprised to see contracts for less than those equivalent prices by christmas too.
