How much does it cost to repair an iPhone 4S charging port?

After trying countless different chargers it looks like my iPhone 4S charging port is knackered. Anyone know roughly how much it'd cost to fix? It's not under warranty? And I suppose Apple would charge more than an independent shop?

The honest answer, though not the one you want to hear, is: however much a new phone costs.

Have you cleaned the port?
Could just be dirty.

@Catmcg most likely the pins are bent/broken, this is a common fault on 4 /4S. The internal pins even bend enough to touch & short. Ive seen countless number of burnt out ports, the white ones are easier to see the black soot burn marks & broken gold pins. Just buy a new port (the port must be the correct one i.e 4S for 4S & buy the one with flex connector cable & mic attached (try to buy a 100% genuine apple one (taken out of a systemboard damaged handset) ebay? or techy friend ;) this isnt too difficult to replace DIY. Watch some vids. Take care & take it easy, dont rush. Also DONT take it to your local market or phone repair shop, those guys are unprofessional & do more damage to the unit. (Not many guys out there that actually care, 99.9% just want your ££ as fast as possible.

Elaborate: what water damage?
As a rule of thumb, no reputable phone shop will 'fix' a water damaged phone.
Additional damage can show up months after the water damage occured. Corrosion is a slow sneaky destroyer... They fix one thing, and an hour or week or month after you pick up the device something else fails.
