Nokia Lumia users have had to be patient, but that patience is finally set to be rewarded as Microsoft has begun rolling out the “Cyan” Windows Phone 8.1 update.
The Cyan update brings a bunch of new features to the Microsoft mobile platform, and should arrive on all compatible Lumias within the next few weeks.
The long list of improvements include Microsoft's gesture-friendly World Flow keyboard, broader customisation options for Live Tiles and the newly updated People Hub, improvements to the Office app and – for US users anyway – access to Cortana, Microsoft's voice assistant.
More Nokia-specific features include updates to Lumia's photo apps, which reportedly improve colour reproduction, low-light performance and RAW photo capture.
There's also Bluetooth 4.0 low-energy support for pairing up with wearable accessories and other Bluetooth gear such as the Nokia Treasure Tag, while the Lumia 1520 has been singled out to receive support for Nokia Rich Recording and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.
