It's the iPad digital newspaper that's supposed to turn around the fortunes of print publishers, and now The Daily has been slated for release here in the UK.
Fresh from launching over in the States earlier this year, The Daily is now preparing to make its presence felt globally, with Western Europe first up for some NewsCorp love.
According to The Telegraph, The Daily's chief digital officer Jonathan Miller spilled the beans about the publication's expansion at the Abu Dhabi Media Summit recently.
“Western Europe is up first in not too long from now,” Miller confirmed, adding that all going well, we'll be seeing The Daily by mid-year.
Rupert Murdoch's brainchild has been selling moderately well since launching early last month, with NewsCorp charging 14c per issue.
However, the big test for the publication will be once Apple's subscription model kicks in next week. “We will charge for it but we haven't started yet,” Miller said. “We have our beginning moment of truth next week when we start to ask people to get out their wallets.”
