How much data does it use to load one webpage on a mobile? Say something like Facebook, Amazon, eBay.

In 2012 the average (!) webpage weighed in at 1MB. But many mobile optimised pages are lighter than the average. If you're concerned about usage, diable images or set image quality to low (if your browser supports that). Dito: disable flash and, on Android, install an ad blocker.

If you're really on a tight budget and/or a slow connection, use UC Browser or Opera Mini. They reduce webpage size by 50 to 90% on their servers and send you a rerendered light version.
