How much data does smartphone music streaming use?

How much data does smartphone music streaming use? Say I was to listen to 1 hour of music on a commute = 2 hours each day. Does streaming use as much as 5MB per song? That could be 60MB per hour surely!! Or does it use a form of compression?

Probably Spotify btw unless anyone has any other recommendations?

On medium quality spotify uses 1.2MBps so about 72MB per hour, there is a lower quality but would still be about 50...
I did a quick test on google play and used about 7MB for one song in hq.

This might be useful though which I stumbled across
