The death of Symbian?

Just seen in the news that Nokia will be shedding 700 Uk based roles as they outsource Symbian to Accenture.
There's a nail in it's coffin if anything is.

True. On the plus side, Apples are grown in China, so US or UK workers needn't jump out the window.
Business is dirty, no matter how nice the products. Sadly, we cannot ignore that.
Having said that, Nokia killed hundreds of German jobs while it was boom-time...
As to the accenture deal - various Symbian devs greeted the news positively...but they probably missed the bits about joblosses. Canis Canem Edit.

True enough about business being dirty.
But Accenture? I've worked with these bozos many times and far too often it's been the kiss of death for projects related to their 'expertise'
de fumo in flammam.

Symbian was dead the day Nokia announced Windows Mobile agreement. Don't really understand why Windows, they could have just went Android way.
Someone has to provide support for existing Symbian devices. Accenture gave Nokia best price. There is no point to pay for life support if chance of recovery is zero.

Yes, it's not good.
I've been called a Nokia fanboy, but that is wrong - I simply think the more the merrier.
But Nokia's decision making seems incohesive... It's as if the smartest engineers on the planet work for the dullest managers.
I believe Nokia still do not understand why Android and iOS are successful. And Nokia's PR stinks tbh... While competitors announce a phone and have it in the shops within weeks, Nokia tease fans with a firmware upgrade for over 6 months. And then they tease us with a big announcement. An announcement that says, 'one day in the vague future we'll launch Anna. We renamed PR2 'Anna' so you forget about all the delays'...pffft.
And the E7? What's up with THAT price? Why not a 'don't buy' sticker instead?
I'm way past predicting them. And I'm typing this on a C7 cause my Arc is exhausted after 6 hours of being pretty and not much else .
