Looking for a decent iPad sim-only data contract... any suggestions?

I've recently caved and bought a 3G iPad - but am looking for a decent sim-only data contract that won't tie me down for too long. Or cost too much, natch. ;) Any suggestions, guys?

I came across this site that did micro sims for truly unlimited data on UK PAYG network, not sure if it helps http://www.giffgaff-sims.co.uk/smartphone.html

An option:
3 sim only - If you don't need to use too much data, £15 a month for their sim only 300 plan, which gives you 1GB internet. Do you think you might need "unlimited" data though?

Oh was also thinking about giffgaff but I think it might be a regular sized sim, so you might need to cut it to size yourself. But for £10 a month, unlimited internet. Check the caveat on their site though:

Free Mobile Internet:
You lucky giffgaff pioneers can even enjoy free UK mobile Internet up to the 04 APR 2011. After that date, mobile Internet will be charged at 20p a day (if you use less than 1MB/day you'll pay less than 20p and if you go over 20MB you'll be charged extra at 20p/MB). But all our goodybags that include unlimited Internet will continue including unlimited Internet after the 04 APR 2011.

How about this one
I have already ordered one and am hoping it would work on my ipad 2 if I cut it to the size of micro sim. Go through Quidco and it tracks for 4 pounds.

SIM only. Note that you will also get free SKYPE access through it.
Our SIM will only work in a 3G phone. Get a Three SIM and join the UK's biggest 3G network.
SIM Only Internet
2GB internet
Free voicemail
Call other UK networks or landlines anytime, just 20.4p a minute
Text cost 10.2p each
Pay for what you use at the end of each month
More details about your plan.

Three offer an iPad microSIM rolling 30 day tariff, 1GB for £7.50

Get a PAYG SIM on Three and top up £15 a month to get unlimited Data. you can get them to swap it for a Micro SIM once it's active, or trim it yourself.

Skype on Three in not compatible with any Apple devices. Sorry to disappoint.

Just watch out with Three. I have the £7.50/ 1Gig contract. Sounds ok but there's no cap on the amount of data you can use and if you go over they nail you. I had £150 taken from my bank account the first month! You'd think it'd be possible in settings to use your home broadband whenever it's available but no, they're all in it together. Illegitimates!

CTPAHHIK  Sep. 20, 2012 at 14:07

- You can get All You Can Eat data with Three for £15 a month on PAYG
- You can get All You Can Eat data on contract for £9.90 or £12.90

When you are close to your allowance Three will sent you a text message notifying you of the fact.

It's really difficult to run £150 bill with Three. How did you manage? Never checked your allowance?

Aren't those phone deals rather than tablet ones though? Though I know there's a a certain erm flexibility about that.
How much did you go over by Choosaname, sounds like rather a lot more data must have been used?
Does the ipad really not let you default to wifi when available?

I have no evidence, but I'd be shocked if that was the case (ans I've never heard about it before today and there have been three generations of cellular capable iPads now).

CTPAHHIK  Sep. 20, 2012 at 14:33

Yes they are, but they come with data. What kind of SIM do you think I use in a dongle?

Pondlife  Sep. 20, 2012 at 15:00

Like I said I know there is a certain erm flexibility. ;)
