How can I delete games from an iPhone 3GS?

Bought an iPhone 3GS from my mate but he has loads of rubbish games on it! How do I get rid of them?

Install iTunes on your PC, setup your own account and then synchronise the phone. that'll get rid of anything that's not 'yours'.
:)

otherwise, press and hold the icon of the game/app you want to remove.
an 'X' will appear. hit this then you will be asked if you're sure you're sure you want it deleted

The "X" never appeared. What else can I do?

Is the app you are trying to uninstall a Cydai (jailbreak) app? In that case you need to uninstall it from within Cydia (open Cydia - along the bottom of the screen is a tab for "installed". Hit it, scroll to your app; hit "modify" in top right corner and then "uninstall".

If your app is not a Cydia app. the only reason for there not to be an "x" when the icons wobble would be that it is a system app. One that is part of iOS such as Stocks, Newsstand etc... you cannot delete those.

HAD you spelled out the app name, I wouldn't need to guess :p ;)

Otherwise, connect your phone to iTunes and go to "Apps". Untick the app you want to delete and hit "sync". Again: if you cannot untick the app it's part of iOS! Or something YOU messed up with the jailbreak.

So: what app is it? Make it a bit easier for us :D
