What's the difference between the Sony Ericsson Xperia x10 and Xperia x10i?

None. There are no such thing as X10, this is a shortened name for end user convenience. There are two "x10" phones -> x10i and x10a.
The Xperia X10i uses GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 900/1700/2100. The Xperia X10a uses GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UMTS/HSPA 800/850/1900/2100.

Selecting between two version depends on where you plan to use this phone.
