If the rumours are true, next year looks set to be a big one for Apple – in more ways than one.
In addition to the supposedly phablet-esque iPhone 6, Apple is thought to be prepping an iWatch and a gigantic 12.9in iPad Pro. Good old DigiTimes tells us when to expect the latter two.
Starting with the iPad Pro (that name is by no means confirmed, incidentally; DigiTimes simply calls it the “large-size iPad”), it’ll supposedly be Quanta putting the thing together for release in the second half of 2014.
Order volumes are expected to be rather limited, since the iPad Pro’s gargantuan size (rumoured at 12.9in; DigiTimes doesn’t say) puts it outside of “mainstream specification”.
Instead, the iPad Pro will focus – we’re told – on the education and enterprise markets. What if I want one?!
As for Apple’s first foray into “wearable tech”, the iWatch, its launch has supposedly been put back from 1Q14 to 2Q14 on account of low yields. Orders have reportedly gone to Inventec, Quanta and Foxconn, though numbers are unclear at this stage.
As always, it’s a good idea to shovel generous amounts of salt in your gob while reading DigiTimes stuff, but it’s generally accepted that the various iDevices listed above (iPhone 6, iPad Pro, Apple iWatch) will touch down at some point in 2014.
