Digitimes remains one of my favourite sources for iPhone and iPad-related rumours, if only because – more often than not – they’re quite clearly utter nonsense.
This week, Digitimes is reporting on not one, nor two, but three spanking new iDevices we should supposedly expect before the end of the year. Genuinely fantastic stuff.
First up, we’re hearing that Pegatron, an OEM for the iPhone 4S and new iPad, has received orders for the next-generation iPhone, due for launch – supposedly – in September.
That’s not overly mental, considering the iPhone 4S launched in October last year. However, most peeps are still looking to October this year for the iPhone 5. It’s anyone’s guess, to be fair.
Digitimes also reiterates that a 7in iPad will be produced by Foxconn Electronics, with a release date of August.
Again, not entirely insane, considering the success of the $199 Amazon Kindle Fire and a rumoured budget 7in Nexus tablet.
The best part, however, concerns a new 10in iPad – “to be launched in the fourth quarter”. There’s no mention of specs or why Apple would be so keen to break its traditional yearly release cycle. But that goes without saying.
Pass the salt, Jan.
