I saw on someone else's post that you can disable twitter DMs? Is that true? If so, how?

No, you can't. You can disable NOTIFICATIONS for DMs in apps. You cannot disable DMs.
It's a rumour based on Twitters short-lived feature where, if you allowed it, people who follow you could send YOU DMs even when YOU did NOT FOLLOW them. That of course meant that spammers could follow you, send you a pile of DMs... THAT type of DM could be disabled
in the past. There are still tutorials online that show you how to... For example: http://www.zagg.com/community/blog/how-to-enable-or-disable-dms-from-your-twitter-followers/
But that feature no longer exists. So, you'll find there is no way to disable any DMs anymore.
