When Apple says it has big plans for 2014, it literally means big, with various large iDevices on the cards including an iPhone 6 and iPad Pro. Oh, and not forgetting the comparatively tiny iWatch.
For what it’s worth, the research dudes at DisplaySearch are chiming in with their predicted display sizes, and they’re largely saying, eh, pretty much the same as everyone else.
Starting with the inevitable iPhone 6 (highly unlikely that Apple is about to throw in the towel on smartphones), we’re again promised two sizes, with DisplaySearch backing 4.7in (900 x 1600, 386PPI) and 5.5in (1080 x 1920, 401PPI).
As for the iPad Pro (previously referred to as the iPad Maxi, which sounds very much like a feminine health product), DisplaySearch reckons it’ll be 12.9in (2732 x 2048, 265PPI). Yeah, that seems to be the consensus.
And finally, the iWatch, which is tipped to fuel the much-promised smartwatch explosion. DisplaySearch is going with 1.3in (348PPI) or 1.6in (278PPI) for iWatch display size.
The DisplaySearch figures appear to be guesswork, essentially, though they at least chime with what everyone else is saying.
The iPad Pro launch might go down in a matter of months, but it’ll likely be the second half of 2014 for the iPhone 6 and iWatch launches.
