Why don’t new photos appear in my Milestone 2.1 gallery?

I'm totally guessing here - never touched a Milestone, but in some Android phones you have to set what folder the Gallery accesses by default. So, if your camera's output folder (DCIM, e.g.) is not the gallery's default folder, you may not see the new camera photos for that reason. But I could be entirely mistaken.
Are you saving camera shots to memory card or internal storage? Or: when you take a photo, and you see the preview of the image, the phone may not actually save the pic!!! Again, not sure if the Milestone does it, but sometimes you have to change in settings wether the image is saved automatically! Connect the phone to your PC in mass storage mode and look at the image folders to check if photos are actually there.

My wife's Samsung Galaxy S suffers from something simialr in that they do turn up but only after a while. Is this true of your Milestone? Some of the gallery apps don't 'refresh' as frequently wwhich allows them to respond quicker. The native android Gallery ( and Gallery 3d) actually scan when you run them so although they take longer to repond they do have the latest pictures available straight away.

You could try an app called Reload SD. It’s available as a widget from the market. It ‘fake mounts’ the SD card, then un-mounts, forcing Android to re-index all the files on the SD card. New photos should now appear in your Milestone 2.1 Gallery.

Or.... just a though..... is there a refresh option anywhere on the app menu?

MRew42... Good point. If there's loads on the memory card, it might take a long time for the Milestone's gallery to register a new pic. The Galaxy Tab starts indexing the card the moment it detects changes, but the Milestone may just kick into gear when you open the gallery???
