Dual-core Sony Ericsson Nozomi landing March 2012?

Dual-core Sony Ericsson Nozomi landing March 2012?Despite launching new Android smartphones on an almost weekly basis, Sony Ericsson is dragging its heels in many respects, perhaps most notably in the processing arena. The ailing manufacturer has yet to officially announce a dual-core smartphone.

But – according to an Xperia Blog insider – that’s all set to change in March 2012, with the arrival of the Sony Ericsson Nozomi. Er, presumably it's the same phone as the previously leaked Xperia Duo.

The source notes that the specs are subject to change, but mentions a 4.3in display (1280 x 720), 1GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, NFC support, and a 1750mAh battery.

Incidentally, that resolution would give the Sony Ericsson Nozomi a PPI of 342, pipping the iPhone 4’s Retina display.

It sounds impressive enough, but we’re already expecting quad-core monsters to start appearing before the end of the year. Too little too late from Sony Ericsson? Probablys.

With an estimated March 2012 arrival, we reckon Sony Ericsson will unveil the Nozomi at CES in January or MWC in February. Yup.

The rumoured quad core galaxy S3 will destroy this effort by SE. SE, once again, using last year's tech (well it'll be last year's by 2012).

Quad-core? In an Windows tablet sure, but a smartphone which has limited multitasking? Might look good on a spec sheet, but I'm not sure what you'd be doing on a phone to take advantage of it.

I'm pretty sure a combination of my 50mbps Virgin WiFi and a quad core processor would make for some great sofa/bed browsing ;). Also who knows what Ice Cream Sandwich will bring to the playing field in terms of multi tasking :).

The fact that you said "bed browsing" followed by a wink made me realise what you might need a quad-core for :p That 5.3 incher you were talking about the other day might come in handy too.

There are certain flash heavy sites...that may benefit from a quad core processor...and an HD screen, I'll leave it at that ;)
