How easy is it to clone a fingerprint?

How easy is it to clone a fingerprint - in order to fool the iPhone 5s or Samsung Galaxy S5?

The average Joe wouldn't be able to access a phone with a fingerprint scanner, let's put it that way. You'd need the knowledge and equipment to know how to do it and a bit of time on your hands, not to mention determination.

I see the fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 5s as nothing more than a convenient level one stop gap measure. Nosey colleagues and such who want a quick peek at your stuff are kept out. Boom... For security? WE KNOW the real security issues we face are mostly online-based.

If you deal with people who know how to bypass the scanner and go to the lengths necessary to do so, you're scre*ed anyways.
