What's the fastest speed on 3G?

What's the fastest speed available on current UK 3G technology?

21mpbs...I think, though you'll never see anything like that in reality.

By the end of this year most networks will have DC-HSPA+ which supports up to 42mbps.

However you'll have to have a phone that supports the tech. And tbh you won't see anywhere near those speeds.

At the moment i've seen up to 17mbps on the new iPad on 3G.

Do any phones sold in the UK support 42mbps HSDPA?

Lumia 900 and new iPad.

Tbh the Lumia 900 isn't a great phone and coupled with the fact that it won't be getting WP8 it's pointless to buy it just to see 'faster' speeds. (which you won't notice)

Seeing as i've seen around 13mbps down on my phone i'm fine with my HSPA+ 21Mbps phone.

One's crap and one isn't a phone...wow, the UK has a great choice of 42mbps devices then...

I'm not sure I even need 42mbps on my phone, I think it'd just encourage me to blow through my 750mb of unthrottled data a lot sooner each month.

Ah the joys of unlimited data on Three*

Yeh the US varients of most phones out in the UK (GS3/One X) support DC-HSPA+ so it's weird that the EU models don't.

They're using the S4 SoC, does that mean that the UK HTC One S supports DC-HSDPA+?

Nope, HSPA+ 21Mbps only.

Weird, I wonder if that's a hardware or software thing...hmmm (not that I'm technical enough to do anything about it haha :D).

hardware unfortunatly. The International (EU) version always varies from the Asia/US models.

Oh well, like I said; I don't really care about quicker data speeds and I don't own a One S anyway :p.

Same tbh, although its fun to show off how fast my 3G is compared to friends on O2 who always get Edge at work :P

DC-HSPA+ doesn;t just increase speeds though, helps with capacity among other things as well.

The UK will be getting DC-HSPA+ compatible dongles at subsidised prices through networks in september of this year i believe.

In true internet forum fashion "LTE or GTFO" :p.

Half-assed quicker HSPA doesn't really bother me, I wouldn't complain if my 3G got faster, but I sure as hell wouldn't pay any more specifically to make it faster than it currently is.
