Is this the final Samsung Galaxy S IV design?

There’s a fair bit of excitement around today surrounding a set of pics that may reveal the final design of the Samsung Galaxy S IV, which launches on Thursday in case you’d forgotten.

Of course, they might also not reveal the final design, which depending on who you are either just adds to the excitement or cements your indifference.

First, though, to the facts, such as they are. Chinese forum 52Samsung has surfaced a series of 10 high-quality snaps supposedly of the Samsung GT-I9502, or the Galaxy S IV to you and me.

It’s claimed to be the dual-SIM version heading for China Unicom, but that wouldn’t make any difference from a design point of view to the single-SIM version we’ll be seeing in the UK.

What will make a difference, though, is if the product being shown isn’t actually the GS4, or is simply a prototype or purposefully released fake. SammyHub for one suggests the shape of the leaked cases it’s seen point to a more squarish design.

But supposing this really is the same Samsung Galaxy S IV we’ll be seeing unveiled on Thursday, it’s interesting just how unremarkable Samsung’s flagship is on the design front.

I’m not saying it’s ugly at all. I just mean looks will probably contribute less towards people’s overall opinion of it than is the case with any of its rivals. Agree or disagree? Have your say in the Comments.

Ugly enough to be real. Sorry. But the SGS3 is very very ugly.

Yep, sure looks in keeping with the rest of the flimsy plastic SGS series.

Looks like a china copy

Front and back look plastic-y (no surprises there). The edge of the bezel is some shiny material (again could be plastic but the iPhone4/s/5 suffered from bad scuffing around there.

Obviously a case/cover would be appropriate but how many SGS3 owners had cases/covers for their phones? Not many that I knew.

It's very odd the fuss people make about how pretty they want their phones to be. Especially when they then proceed to put in a a pig ugly case and stick a sheets of clear bubbly plastic over the screen.

OMG, is no one else seeing that the phone is growing from the pictures from the left to the right, S4 to sport new tech that expands the phone when you start using it? (stretchy screens and batterys)

Err, did Samsung's design dept. fall asleep for 12 months or something? From the front that could easily, even by me, be mistaken for a Note 2 or grey S3...

No, I looked at the photos again... both the Note 2 and (hard to imagine) the SGS3 look better.

Which phone tickles your fancy (in terms of style)?

I like the Motorola RAZR series...

JanSt / MOD  Mar. 12, 2013 at 22:35

I like Moto's RAZRs, too.
Also, I have a Moto Pro+ - now, it's a snail, and its stand-out feature, the QWERTY, sucks butt.
However, ergonomically it's almost perfectly designed, and it is rock solid.

If you look at the full size images it looks alot nicer than in the tiny images
