Firefox promising ‘Something BIG’ for Android this week

Firefox promising ‘Something BIG’ for Android this weekIt’s somewhat amusing that both Firefox and – more surprisingly – Google Chrome for Android remain at the beta stage. Where’s the alpha? Just a thought.

Anyway! We’re promised that “Something BIG” is coming to Firefox for Android this week. It’s like Christmas come early.

We’re not given any specifics, and the tweet - "Something BIG is coming your way next week" - is simply accompanied by an image with the words “Fast. Smart. Safe.”

A recent Android Firefox update introduced Flash support for smartphone users (“PHONES only”, stresses the change log), a redesigned UI, new start page, and “significant performance advancements”.

So what might this update introduce? Well, tablet users are crying out for Flash support, there are known issues with the Samsung Galaxy Note stylus, and ‘find in page’ isn’t yet supported.

Or maybe Firefox will go the whole hog and drop the Beta. You never know…

I hope "Something BIG" refers to "something usable". I find Mozilla's mobile attempts ridiculous. Give up. Fix desktop Firefox, and stop wasting resources.
There. Love you

Moving swiftly back on topic, whatever they release will be flawed, slow and not as good as Chrome (pretty much the same as the Firefox desktop browser).

Google Chrome for Android remain at the beta stage.
Amusing, maybe. Relevant, not really.

If Chrome for Android didn't have its Beta label, you wouldn't know it's a Beta app. It works just fine and it's only downfall is the fact it's only compatible with ICS devices (which I doubt will change even when it loses its Beta tag, possibly at Google IO later this week).

Agree... every new FireFox release since 3.6 has sucked.
