Do FM radios on phones use data?

If a phone has an FM radio, does it use data, or just radio waves?

Do be aware though that you may find some apps which talk about being FM radio stations which WILL use your data as they actually stream the station to your device. The builtin FM radio App that comes with your phone will use good ol' Frequency Modulated radio waves :)

No, they do not use data - though some offer additional features that may require access to the web. Generally though: nope.

Yes, mrew is right - when downloading Android or iOS radio app, be certain it really is NOT an app using the web to stream radio stations. Chances are, if your phone doesn't come with an FM radio, there won't be an app turning it into one, as it is a hardware thing, really ;)
