Can I force the desktop version of Facebook on my Samsung Galaxy S2?

When I put in the URL it redirects to the mobile version, argh!

You need to change the user-agent string in your browser. Apparently you can do this by typing about:useragent in the address bar (note: remove 'http://')

Have a look at your browser settings and see if you can change the User Agent on the browser. I'm not sure if you need a custom ROM to do that.

Opera Mobile definitely lets you use the Facebook desktop site. I believe any 3rd party browser that lets you choose "user agent" in settings can do it, too

Changing the User Agent on the stock browser on the SGS2, only changes it temporarily, if you close the browser it'll go back to the mobile site the next time you visit the page. Dolphin Browser HD works well for visiting desktop sites in my experience, as does Opera as Jan said.
