Last year, Apple broke with tradition and stunned the industry (yeah, my tongue is firmly planted in my cheek) by announcing not one but two spanking new iPhones simultaneously, namely the fingerprint scanner-rockin’ iPhone 5s, and the plastic-cased iPhone 5c.
According to insiders at Taiwanese manufacturer Foxconn, the Californians are set to go even crazier in 2014, announcing two new iPhones at bigger-than-iPhone-5s sizes.
That’s the story relayed by Chinese-language C Tech, with credit going to PunkPanda. G for Games, for one, seems convinced that these guys are usually spot on.
Bizarrely, credit goes to “Foxconn insiders”, who were speaking in an unofficial capacity at a New Year party. Er, sounds like someone had too much Taiwan Beer.
If – if - these guys are to be believed, the 2014 iPhone line-up will consist of a pair of chaps at 4.7in and 5.7in. Both would be a fair bit bigger than the 4in iPhone 5s, and the 5.7in chap in particular would be the same size as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
The Foxconn guys also mentioned “biometrics”. It’s not clear if that means an iPhone 5s-style fingerprint scanner, or something fancier like eye recognition.
In either case, things will become a whole lot clearer at the iPhone 6 launch, in a-bout eight months.
