That's a bargain. If you take out the £470 you'd be spending on the phone SIM free that makes it only £6.42 per month. The equivalent SIM only contract from T-Mobile costs £15.50 per month.

So SIM Free plus SIMO for 24 months you'd be spending:

470+186+186 = £842

Over £200 more over the length of the contract.

€600-ish on prepay on Vodafone Ireland according to their social-network "officer"... Same as the "superior" more evolved Samsung Galaxy Note ;). :p

600 euros = £500...locked to a network. Wow, Ireland is a rip off :p.

Yes... but hey, I just saw an irish person swap a 64GB iPhone 4S for a Lumia 800! No kidding!
So can you blame Vodafone for playing dirty? o_O

Yeah we get it Jan. Ireland is a rip-off and you can't order from anywhere online. No need to bang on about it everyday! :p

Fair point, you could always move to the UK ;).

Total need :p
In a sane world the UN would take over, and the corruptocracy would get a gaelic Nuremberg ;)

I'm like Gandhi by comparison.

But okay: I'll shut up.

Think the 18m deal on hukd is better but am firmly for waiting, S3 so close...

Then you could moan about what a rip off the uk is compared to the US :)

Nah, Brits don't realise how lucky they are until they move elsewhere. We just like to moan for some reason ;)

Alright conceptually 18m is better, but erm works out more cost and worse contract. So scratch that really. Ooops. Deal below anyway

That said I think on either I'd struggle to keep data in limits.

Data limits on T-Mobile are irrelevant, you don't pay more even if you go over your allowance. Also, how is an 18m contract conceptually better than a 12 month one? If I signed an 18 month contract now I'd end up renewing when the high end 2013 phone had been out 6 months, so they'd be ageing, but not close enough to MWC 2014 to hold out and wait for 2014's high end phones.

12 months is much better, puts you in a prime position to get a high end MWC 2013 phone this time next year.

Pondlife  Apr. 3, 2012 at 22:17

It isn't better than 12m but as the thread was about 24m one I'd say 18m was conceptually better. 12m would be even better still but won't be at these prices for 12m til march next year maybe

True but they do restrict what you can do if you go over the limit.

matt101101 / MOD  Apr. 3, 2012 at 22:24

Sorry...I really don't know what I was banging on about, my bad mate.

I do kinda think that 24 month contracts are better than 18 month ones simply for the fact that you end up renewing at the "right" time in a year...for that extra 6 months on the end of a 18 month contract I'd probably end up on a SIMO plan anyway waiting for the MWC devices to be released in 6 months time.

Pondlife  Apr. 3, 2012 at 22:31

Or on this occasion you could get a 4g handset 6m earlier, and get to sell this on when it'd be worth a bit more than it would 6m later. Maybe. :)

Besides the wait for the S3 to launch so we can check that first will cut into that time.

matt101101 / MOD  Apr. 3, 2012 at 22:46

Hmm...I'm sceptical about 4G being available (in Nottingham, which is where I live) any time before 2014 (when a 24 month contract would run out). You do have a point about waiting for the S3 eating into that extra 6 months, though.

If the S3 isn't announced soon, I may have to get a One X out of curiosity. I'm a bit of a Sense lover at heart, it's a million times nicer than crappy TouchWiz.
