Free stuff! (that's actually useful)

As is the case with trade shows, you get all sorts of free stuff... like brand new smartphones, tablets and so on. Well, no, but rather all kinds of not so useful things. Or at least that's what Lewis got.

And me? I was at the Nokia press conference on Monday, for which I got up at 6AM... and was nicely rewarded. Besides getting to see Stephen Elop and other high Nokia and Microsoft executives in person (really exciting, especially if you've been reading and writing about them as much as I do), the nice people from Nokia were giving out some free stuff as well. But, you know, actually useful stuff.

No, not smartphones or tablets, sadly, but earbuds. And, I mean, not some random generic ones, but pretty nice ones. While I'm far from an audiophile, I'm sophisticated enough to despise those horrible things that usually come bundled with new phones and MP3 players. But, these ones from Nokia actually sound better than other basic third-party earbuds, such as the incredibly popular Creative EP-630 I'm using. Or rather, was using, since I've moved on now...

In fact, while writing this article, I researched a bit and found that these earbuds are called "Nokia Purity by Monster". They're priced at around £70, which a pretty fair price considering what you get, though in terms of pure sound quality, you can probably find comparable ones for slightly less. That said, these earbuds have their own advantages, such as flat cords that are practically impossible to tangle, and they come with a nice carrying case and 5 (!) different rubber tips. Plus, I got them for free...

evidence (if it was needed) to show much these things actually cost to produce...

I'm a sucker for free stuff, so this sounds like something really cool to get for zilch, even if it only costs a few quid to make. Hope you guys are having fun out there :p

Well this is definitely worth its money, even if it wasn't free. Got pretty good reviews on Amazon, at least http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nokia-WH-920-Purity-Headset-Monster/product-reviews/B0060VMAIS/

And thanks!
