Free Surface RT tablets for Microsoft employees

Free Surface RT tablets for Microsoft employees Free stuff. You might think I’d get loads of free stuff doing what I do, but the most impressive thing I’ve had to date is a review code for DoDonPachi Resurrection HD, normally £9.99 from the App Store.

That pales in comparison to the treat Microsoft employees have just been promised, namely a ton of free Windows 8 gear, including Microsoft Surface RT tablets. Sonsof…

The announcement was made at a Microsoft meeting at KeyArena in Seattle, with big Stevie Ballmer dishing out the good news.

The goodness is threefold. For starters, the refresh cycle for employee PCs has been accelerated, so they’ll get shiny new Windows 8 machines made by Microsoft’s hardware partners.

Ahh, I still remember being upgraded from XP to Vista when I worked for… some UK mobile operator.

All employees will also receive a Windows 8 device for use at home. Microsoft reportedly did something similar with Windows 7.

And finally, all employees will receive a Microsoft Surface RT tablet for use at work and home. That's a lot of free Surface RTs; Microsoft has over 94,000 employees.

Jeez, clearly I’m working for the wrong company here (please don’t fire me).

Not a bad deal if you work full-time as an office clerk or shop worker. Obviously it'll be trivial to the upper-management etc, but for "normal" people they'll be a far bigger deal.
