Fujitsu Japan announces pink handsets 'for girls'. Condescending, much?Girls don't do tech, right? After all, they need everything to have kittens, butterflies, rainbows, sparkles and an essence of pink to even be remotely interested, yeah?

Nope, but any self-respecting gadget loving lass better look away now or be at risk of getting a bit annoyed with stereotyping: Fujitsu Japan is rolling out two handsets designed specifically "for girls".

The first (The F-03D Girls'), an Android Gingerbread device, comes with a waterproof body (presumably in case its splashed with perfume), "extra cute" photo frames and apps designed specifically for the fairer sex.

For those girls with a bit more nous (i.e if you're actually reading this right now), you'll be more interested to know that it also has a 3.7-inch 480x800 resolution, 8MP camera, wifi, 512MB RAM, 1GHz processor, e-wallet function and built in TV tuner.

And what's this... a feature phone? Yep, the other one isn't even a smartphone. After all, who needs smart when you've got pink? The F-06D Girls' comes with a tote bag, stylus to decorate your snaps (it's all about the accessories, remember ladies), 8MP camera, cute wallpapers, 39 photo frames and 3,010 emojis "for cuter emails". This one is also waterproof - maybe to protect it from the vomit its bound to induce with its cheesiness.

If you're wound up by this, ladies - don't fear. You won't have it shoved down your throat as these handsets are mercifully destined for Japan only.

Can't help wondering what Germaine Greer would make of all of this. Now go put the kettle on, eh?!

Why do you guys constantly mention handsets which won't release in the uk:/

Because shockingly people do actually live in other countries...odd that.

Note this site is called mobot.net not mobot.co.uk.

And a lot of japanese people can read english. Didn't know that.

Actually they can. You'd be amazed how poor language skills in the UK are compared to other developed nations around the world. English is, after all, the business language of the world. I think the article was also more of a p*ss take on pink, girl oriented phones than an actual announcement of a new phone being launched.

um, why is this condescending or even newsworthy? Girls like pink. Compaines have been releasing pink phones for years as well as tv's, dvd players, laptops, etc, etc.

Is the point you are trying to make because it's being marketed as 'for girls'? because that really makes no odds either as it's blatantly obvious that all pink consumer electronic goods are aimed at the female market. especially the ones shaped like cucumbers.

that is all.

Treab  Jan. 14, 2012 at 05:52

you don't know man... you weren't their ;)

jeez janny... all i wanted is for you to buy emma one.. so we can see how she reacts... normal psychological experiment ;)

"girls like pink"...

No, girls ARE conditioned to like pink. Big difference.
Also: by hooking "girls" (women) on pink gadgets, their chances of reselling that gadget are reduced by 50%.
