Fujitsu talks tough with the Stylistic M532 rugged Android tablet

Fujitsu talks tough with the Stylistic M532 rugged Android tabletThe tablet market is still in its relative infancy, which means true diversity is still a work in progress – you don't need an Apple court case to know that.

Take rugged tablets, for instance: there aren't many around, unless you mean Panasonic's beastly Toughbooks. So it's well done to Fujitsu, who have just launched something in between: a ruggedised Android tablet that's also seriously portable.

It's called the Stylistic M532, and comes with some military-grade MIL-STD-810G protection while still weighing in at just 560g and standing just 8.6mm tall.

And unlike the norm with many of the sturdier set, the spec isn't bad either. The 10.1in IPS display offers a 1280x800 resolution, and you get a 1.4GHz quad-core processor supported by 1GB of RAM.

Internal storage is a decent 32GB, while the camera can take 8MP snaps, or 2MP if you're shooting from the front. Fujitsu says you should get around eight hours of video playback from the 3170mAh battery.

Sealing the deal is some Android Ice Cream Sandwich action – good to see pretty much every new bit of Android kit finally now coming with Android 4.0 out of the box.

We're not sure if the Stylistic M532 is being lined up to make its way to the UK, but we certainly wouldn't mind – a bit of variety doesn't hurt anyone, even if clearly the M532's tough guy rating is a fair bit short of the Toughbook-level Bear Grylls league.
