Unlimited in terms of amount of data, but the speed is capped at 4Mpbs (all the time)
This is regardless of where purchased.

I'm not trying to argue with you on this, but that has not been my experience I am on and unlimited t-mobile plan for over 2 years now. my wife and I have to galaxy note 4s on the same plan. we both use over a hundred gigs of data a month each. we have never been throttled in any way shape or form. I have used a couple of different speed test apps and they all record 9 speed went on a 4G LTE connection at always over 20 megabytes per second sometimes I reach up to 30. On a 4G connection without LTE it is typically 8 megabytes per second 3G probably about 4, and if you getting less than 3G under 1 megabyte per second.

T-mobile don't do 4g so I don't know where you were connected.....
As this is a UK site, I was answering in UK terms. T-mobile (bought from wherever in the UK - Tesco included) is speed capped for unlimited data plans.
