We came across the Samsung Galaxy R for the first time a couple of weeks ago, only to discover that there were no plans to bring it to the UK.
Well, the good news is that we were wrong, and the Galaxy S II's streamlined little brother will be with us within the next few days.
The Galaxy R comes in one letter short of the Galaxy S, and that's a pretty accurate description of the phone itself. It does away with some of the big-ticket features on the Galaxy S, such as the Super AMOLED Plus display, in order to come in at a lower price point.
The processor too is a step down, although a dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra is still nothing to be sneezed at. And you'll have to make do with a 5-megapixel camera, instead of the Galaxy S' 8MP number.
Samsung's press release says the Galaxy R will be available in Europe by the end of July, which of course is tomorrow. But we'll be happy to look the other way if it only lands next week.
