Samsung Galaxy Nexus coming to O2 this week

Samsung Galaxy Nexus coming to O2 this weekReaders hoping for a SIM-free Samsung Galaxy Nexus may have been left smarting by the apparent delay in getting it to us until next month but if you're planning on signing up for one with O2, we have good news: the November 17th launch is on track.

This is not based on rumour - but the horse's mouth, as it were: O2 has posted the info itself - appropriately enough on its Google+ page.

There's no word on price-plans yet but those who don't want to be tied down on contract will apparently be able to pick the Galaxy Nexus up on Pay As You Go for £499.99.

O2 was one of the first networks to announce it'd be getting the handset in following the launch last month.

If you need a quick reminder, the Galaxy Nexus is super-slim, measuring just 8.94mm thick, while the bezel around the screen is just 4.29mm thick, which helps keep the handset's overall dimensions manageable.

And that's just as well, as Samsung has packed in a whopping 4.65in HD Super AMOLED display, the first ever 720p display to appear on a smartphone.

In the engine room we have a dual-core 1.2GHz processor along with 1GB of RAM, while you can choose between 16GB and 32GB of on-board storage.

Another rumour confirmed is that the camera is only a 5-megapixel effort though it does boast zero shutter lag and a nifty panoramic mode. On the video side you get full HD video recording and playback.

The Galaxy Nexus will launch as a Verizon exclusive in the US, where it will run on high-speed 4G LTE networks, while us European types will have to make do with HSPA+. Which will do us nicely for now.

Just let's hope O2 sticks to its word!

And the good news is, because it's O2 PAYG a Giff Gaff SIM should work in it.

Why are Samsung releasing phones here before nearly every other country? Seems a bit weird. Not that I'm complaining though.

Samsung are now the number 1 manufacturer in the UK, they want to keep this up so thats why they're releasing/supporting their phones in the UK a lot. Lets hope they keep this up and don't do a Motorola on us!

Just think if you buy this for £499 sim free on release, then this time next year when the new Nexus comes out you may be able to sell it for as much as £100 from Mazuma to put towards the new model!!
