There appears to be a resuscitation policy in mobile-land: if you want to double the shelf life of a product, whiten it up!
The white iPhone 4 and white BlackBerry Bold are a couple of names that spring to mind, and now the white Galaxy S II is about to land.
Not that Samsung's favourite handset is getting on - indeed, it's only been out a few months. But eager to keep sales high (as we reported yesterday, Samsung has passed the five million mark in 85 days), the South Koreans have decided to remould the S2 in white. And it'll be available next month.
The news comes not courtesy of Samsung itself, but instead eminates from online retailer Clove, which has put up a placeholder page claiming the Galaxy S II White will be for sale SIM-free from August 15th, with a price tag of £492.
With no picture to go on, we're having to make some assumptions here, but odds are it will be exactly the same form factor as the current S II but with a white faceplate, Home button and rear.
That is, of course, providing Samsung doesn't follow Apple's example and promise a white phone only to then take 10 months to actually deliver it. In that case, we've plenty of time to save up.
