Hey, you! You’ve had enough iPad for one lifetime, with the third generation iPad announced in March followed by the fourth generation iPad and all-new iPad mini just the other night, right?
Well, the rumour mill, for one, is hungry for more, and it’s already looking ahead to the fifth generation iPad.
Some guy/gal asked the other day: What could the *next* iPad have? Cue: a whole host of really helpful suggestions from the mischievous Jan, including a slide-out joystick and a dual-screen. Hmm, maybe not.
One thing we might see on the fifth generation iPad, however, is less meat. The fourth generation iPad weighs over 650g and measures 9.4mm. Chunky.
The iPad mini, on the other hand, weighs just 308g and measures a ridiculously thin 7.2mm. Indeed, some reckon that’s too thin.
However, according to Digitimes, future iPads – the big ones – will adopt “GF Dito” or “GF2” technology, which is significantly thinner and lighter than current GG (glass-on-glass) tech.
That certainly sounds like a distinct possibility. One of the attractions of the iPad mini is the ability to hold it comfortably in one hand. Try that with the big chap and you’re looking at a trip to the hospital.
