There's always a risk with updating any software. Be it an app or a whole OS. But I'd say, go for it. The SGS2 is a well matured device.

But tell me about those nightmare stories. I wasn't aware of any BIG issues with that model.

The S2 is a very good device, okay I might be a little biased, but I'm far from the only person who'll sing its praises. Jelly Bean makes the S2 an even faster and more fluid phone, I've used Samsung's own JB firmware on my own S2 and I would highly recommend it over Gingerbread.

My advice: back up any personal data which is important to you and go ahead with the update. Enjoy your newly refreshed and revitalised phone :).
