Gingerbread for HTC Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD and Incredible S

Gingerbread for HTC Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD and Incredible SGoogle has announced that the HTC Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD and Incredible S will all be served with delicious Gingerbread goodness in Q2. In a statement that effectively reiterates what I’ve just said, Google boomed: “We are excited to announce that the Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2.”

Owners of the original HTC Desire will no doubt breathe a collective sigh of relief. They’ve already been upgraded from Eclair to Frodo, but with the new HTC Desire S announced last week at Mobile World Congress, it wasn’t clear if the old-school HTC Desire would be neglected.

But those concerns have been allayed. Fear not, old boy; Google still loves you.

The HTC Incredible S was first shown off in Barcelona last week, but it’s already available from mobiles.co.uk. It’s free on a £30 24M contract.

Oddly, the Incredible S ships with Froyo, while the rest of the new boys (HTC Desire S, Wildfire S, ChaCha, Salsa and Flyer) will all come loaded with Gingerbreadness.

What's Google got to do with it? It's HTC who'll be doing the release. Google creates new versions of the OS, the manufacturers decided whether to apply them to their handsets or not. Surely you meant HTC still loves you?
