There are so many options, I recommend you have a hunt around, perhaps collate them all in a spreadsheet and see what works out best for you.
Here are a few I spotted:
With Orange, the 600 mins contract is £35.75pm, 18 months, but only 500mb data. Phone is £229.99 for the 16GB black.
With t-mobile, 600 mins and 500mb data is £35.75pm, 24 months, phone is £99.99 for the 16GB black.
If you want 1GB data, it seems you need to pay for the higher contract prices from them.
With Tesco mobile, you can get the 16GB on a 12 month contract, 750 mins, 1gb data, for £40pm, £235 handsaet cost. This might be good if you think you will be interested in upgrading to your next phone sooner rather than later.

Yes '3' is probably your best option for high data use if you don't want to pay too much for the phone. I believe the current deal is £35 a month 24-month contract £69 for the 16GB model. 900 minutes, 5000 texts, 1GB data.

Thanks all. Really appreciate the advice. Got a good deal from 3 with TCB as a bonus
