Good smartphone for playing music?

Is there a smartphone that's particularly good for playing music at home without a dock?

Anything with a MicroSD card slot for expandable memory. I can't fault my S2 for its musical capabilities, or for much else, for that matter.

They are all the same as it's pretty basic function. I'm assuming you will connect it to external speaker. Pretty much all of them support music over Bluetooth also.

Yep if not worried about sound quality Bluetooth is definitely convenient.
If you are very worried about it the original galaxy S and the Nexus phones are said to have very good DACs.

I've read that, too. Despite that, I think the quality of the headphones/speakers/audio files you're playing back, will have a far bigger overall effect on sound quality.

Tbh, as long as it has:

1)Expandable memory
2)Audio via Bluetooth
3) 3.5mm Headphone Jack

You're pretty much sorted on the phone hardware front. I guess the HTC "Beats" phones could be considered good if "Beats Audio" is your kind of thing (FWIW, I think it's over-hyped, over priced crap).
