Over the weekend Google appears to have killed off its flagship Nexus 7 tablet. The device can no longer be purchased from the Google Play store, in what many are seeing as the death knell for the well-received competitor to the Apple iPad mini. Considering the latest Android update has finally started to cause performance issues with the Nexus 7, and the fact the Nexus 6 smartphone provides more functionality at a similar size, it's not a complete surprise that Google have called time on their support for it.
That said, you can still get one by looking elsewhere. The cheapest deal currently available for the 32GB version of the Nexus 7 is via Amazon, where it beats the next best price by around a tenner. A strong battery life and and a great screen are the main draws, although the lack of memory expansion may mean you'll have to be manage your files and apps more than you would like to.
