The HTC One Max is finally here, and next Tuesday will see both Apple and Nokia launching a whole bunch of stuff. But what about the Google Nexus 5 launch, man?
Google seemingly has an event scheduled for next Thursday, October 24, but we’re told to expect, well, pretty much nothing worth talking about whatsoever. Brilliant.
It’s a confusing time for those eagerly anticipating the launch of LG’s Google Nexus 5. It was originally tipped for an October 14 or October 15 launch, which obviously didn’t happen, and now we’re thinking Halloween looks like a good bet.
In the meantime, Google is hosting a “night out” next Thursday, promising music, movies, games and a special performance.
However, despite the promise of abundant fun and laughter, a tweet from Android Police reads: “According to a reliable source, the Google Play event next Thursday not only won't have hardware, it won't have any news at all. Bummer.”
Earlier this week, Mountain View “accidentally” posted the Nexus 5 on Google Play for a short time, much like it “accidentally” revealed the Nexus 5 in a promotional video for KitKit Android 4.4, and much like some guy “accidentally” left a Nexus 5 charging in a bar. All those mistakes and all that subsequent publicity. “D’oh!”
So the message from Google, unofficially, appears to be: Nexus 5 coming real soon. Just please, please don’t buy anything else in the meantime.
