It’s been over a year since Google acquired US mobile manufacturer Motorola, and now that the Moto X is here (well, in the US at least), we know for sure that it’s not – technically – a Nexus device.
That’s the story according to Taylor Wimberly, with an incredibly brief post on everyone’s third-favourite social networking site, Google+.
TW croons: “Motorola will release a Nexus smartphone in Q4 (that is not the Moto X).” And, er, that’s your lot. Over 150 comments in response, but no further word from T-Dawg.
If that name sounds familiar, that’s because Taylor was predicting all sorts of things about the Moto X prior to launch, and often with great accuracy.
Among other things, Taylor declared that we should expect the Moto X’s backplate to come in various materials, including wood.
As I said, no word on Motorola Nexus specs for now, but one thing we can safely say is: don’t expect a microSD slot.
