Yes, but you'd end up paying much more after shipping and import fees.

For 2G/3G yes.
For 4G, no.

That's $349 + US sales tax, shipping, VAT and a handling charge (no import duty as mobile phones are exempt). I'd guess at a total cost around £280, could be £10 more or less. You'll save £10-£30, but lose 4G and any kind of warranty (unless LG/Google take pity on you and fix the phone if it ever brakes).
Importing is usually only worth considering if the £££ amount is equal to or greater than the $$$ amount (e.g. £299, $299 or £349, $329). That's where you save money. Otherwise, cheap goods are just a nice bonus for people holidaying in the US.
