It’s been a tough time for the Google Nexus 7 of late, with its modest 8GB and 16GB offerings. First the Amazon Kindle Fire HD came along and matched the price points – but doubled the storage. Now there’s the iPad mini with 32GB and 64GB options.
Google is hosting an Android event on Monday, and a 32GB Google Nexus 7 is expected to make an appearance. In the meantime, the 16GB has received a sexy price chop.
Prices are dropping across various sites, and at the time of writing PC World in particular will sell you a 16GB Google Nexus 7 for an incredibly reasonable £169.99.
Google Play, however, is standing firm, with the 8GB Google Nexus 7 still selling for £159, and the 16GB going for £199. We expect those prices will drop come Monday.
As well as a 32GB Google Nexus 7, we’re expecting to meet the Samsung-built Nexus 10, and of course Carphone Warehouse already blew the lid on the LG Nexus 4, oops.
That makes three new Nexus devices at least semi-confirmed; might we be looking at five Nexus devices after all? There are rumours of a Motorola Nexus and an HTC Nexus 5. Roll on Monday, Googs.
