The Asus-built Google Nexus 7 is available in two flavours, namely 8 and 16GB, and – disappointingly – there’s no microSD slot to expand on those relatively modest amounts. Sob.
But wait, what’s this? A Japanese consumer has reportedly received a Google Nexus 7 with a comparatively meaty 32GB internal storage. What the…?
The chap claims to have ordered a 16GB Google Nexus 7 from the Google Play store, and indeed that’s exactly what the packaging indicates. So far, so good.
But on the actual Google Nexus 7, when our Japanese friend checks the remaining free internal storage, he has a surprising 26.62GB available of a total 27.58GB.
It’s difficult to imagine how a 32GB Google Nexus 7 ‘accidentally ‘ found its way into a consumer’s hands. Such a model has been rumoured, though it’s very much unofficial. Is it already in production?
If true, there’s always the chance there are other 32GB Google Nexus 7s out there, either on the shelves or in the possession of unwitting consumers.
Or of course it could all be an elaborate hoax. Er, except not that elaborate. Over to you, Google. What’s the deal?
