Google Nexus 7 gets HDMI dock and PW100 Wireless Charging Stand

Google Nexus 7 gets HDMI dock and PW100 Wireless Charging StandWhen, in my mind, is wireless charging not wireless charging? When it involves plugging a charger into the wall (y’know, using wires and a plug), and requires physical contact with the device.

But hey! That’s as good as technology gets at present, and that’s what Google is going with in its Asus PW100 Wireless Charging Stand. There’s also a plain old Asus Dock for Nexus 7 (2013).

Starting with the Asus Dock for Nexus 7 (2013), it supports landscape and portrait orientation, and of course charges your Nexus 7 (2013) while in use.

In a neat twist, it also boasts HDMI output, something that’s of course missing from the Google Nexus 7 (2013) spec sheet.

As for the Asus PW100 Wireless Charging Stand, it actually works with “most” Qi-compatible smartphones and tablets, presumably including the Google Nexus 4 and Nexus 5.

In the accompanying YouTube video, the Google Nexus 7 is seen sitting on the Asus PW100 Wireless Charging Stand in landscape, but presumably you can turn it portrait without the 60-degree pyramid toppling over.

In terms of price, the Asus Dock for Nexus 7 (2013) comes in at $50 (UK price TBC), while the Asus PW100 Wireless Charging Stand demands £70.
