Well, then. We've all been snuffling about for fresh info on the Google Nexus Prime after its proposed unveiling scheduled for today was cancelled as a mark of respect after the death of Steve Jobs.
But we didn't really expect direct quotes from Samsung's UK sales director telling us to expect the Nexus Prime to be announced “very shortly”, and to be in the shops not long after than.
Samsung UK sales director Andrew Glass was speaking to T3 at the gadget publication's annual awards ceremony recently, and was quoted as saying: “you will have an announcement of the Nexus Prime very shortly and will be seeing it in shops sooner than you think.”
Let's not forget – this isn't an attempt at stirring up publicity for a phone that's in the final stages of development. Everything was... ahem... primed and ready for the Nexus Prime to touch down today, so really it's just a matter of when Samsung and Google decide to go public – everything else is in place.
We still don't have any indication of just who will be carrying the Nexus Prime here in the UK. If past Nexus phones are anything to go by, it won't be everyone – not at first anyway. Last time out with the Nexus S it was Carphone Warehouse that nabbed a limited exclusivity deal, and we'd bet it wouldn't mind a repeat this time around too.
