Remember we were saying a few days ago that Google Play was due for an overhaul to bring it in line with the company’s new Material Design standard? Well, you’ll never guess what’s happening right now.
Nope, not the iPhone 6 launch; it’s the global rollout of Google Play’s Material Design makeover. For serious.
The Google Play Material Design update is rolling out now – as in officially “rolling out now”, though oddly, Google doesn’t care to say much about it through the usual social channels.
The accompanying tweet reads only: “Our latest update is rolling out right now! We're excited to share a sneak peek of what you’ll get in the coming days”. That’s a visual sneak peek, as in the picture above.
Again, the changes are predominantly cosmetic, and while it might look like the same old Google Play on the surface, delving deeper into individual listings for content like apps and music reveals a design that’s heavy on cover images.
Google Play’s Material Design should arrive on your device in the next few days. Any sign of it where you are? Hit us up below and let us know how it feels (emotionally and technically).
